Learn Anatomy

Just like our body has anatomy, the guitar has too, and every musical instrument has it. Before learning anything else, you need to understand your guitar first. Learn its parts and what they are called. Don’t start in the dark and get the beam of knowledge first. Get to know what is called ahead, peg, nut, fretboard, body, sound hole, and similar terms.

The Way of Holding

We are considering that you have picked up the right size as per your comfort. Learn the way of holding the guitar right. A tutor can come as a great help, or you can have the online classes. However, those who are self-learners can teach themselves how a guitar should be held. 

Get your left hand on the neck or the area where you see all the strings. Place the right hand near the sound hole where you would strum. This is the ideal position of holding a guitar. If you are a lefty, then you need to flip the guitar string and use your right hand to hold the neck whereas left one for the sound hole.

The Fundamentals

The guitar always comes out of tune that you have to bring in tune. There are apps to do that, or you can buy the tuner. Learn the names of the chords and start setting them to their ideal tune. It would make the guitar sound beautiful as it should else all you hear is a horrible sound.

Similarly, you should learn to restring the guitar. It is the techniques that come in use when the strings need a replacement. The faded color, hard to tune, and flat sounds are some of the symptoms that you should buy new strings. 

Holding a pick right is also one of the vital guitar playing tips for beginners. Picks are very cheap, and so you can buy many of them. Get the pick and hold it between the tip of your first finger and your thumb. Keep it there comfortably and adjust a bit if you have to.
